NBA Weekly

Gilbert Arenas: I told you once, I told you twice, and now Gilbert Arenas is having a third knee operation and will miss the first month of the upcoming season. I know it's only a month but Arenas has been bothered by injuries for the last 3 years now and it seems like he will never be fully healthly again. I just don't think it was a smart idea to sign him to a huge contract when he has had all these injury issues the last few years. I love to watch Arenas play and I hope he gets healthly, but lately things have not been looking good for him.

Shaun Livingston: Shaun Livingston is still unsigned and it looks like Portland, Minnesota, and Miami are interested in him. I am personally rooting for Livingston to make it back into the NBA after having such a horrible knee injury a few years back. You have to give the kid credit for staying motivated and working hard to get back in the league and hopefully that hard work will pay off for him and he will be able to have a decent career. It seems like he is on the right track though and Portland is said to be the favorite to sign him.

Other NBA News:

- Delonte West re-signed with the Cavs and joins Maurice Williams and Daniel Gibson in a battle for minutes at the point guard spot. I would imagine that West will see some time at the 2 off the bench as well.

- The Miami Heat re-signed PG Chris Quinn who will battle for the starting PG job with Mario Chalmers and Marcus Banks.

- The Denver Nuggets signed rookie Sonny Weems who played at Arkansas and was originally drafted by the Chicago Bulls.

- Marcellus Kemp will not be starting the season in the NBA and has signed to play in Italy this year.

- Charlie Villanueva was named the recipient of the NBA Community Assist Award for August of this year in recognition of his efforts in the community and for his ongoing philanthropic and charitable work. You can read all about what Villanueva is doing for the community by clicking the link above.
