2009 NBA Playoffs: Game 3 - Los Angeles Lakers 108 Houston Rockets 94 (Highlights)

Game 3: Los Angeles Lakers 108 Houston Rockets 94

Analysis: The Rockets lost some key battles in this game, which probably prevented them from winning. The first is that they turned the ball over 17 times compared to just 6 for the Lakers. However, since they outrebounded the Lakers 56 to 43, including 19 to 10 on the offensive boards, they were still able to take two more shots from the field than the Lakers did. Unfortunately for the Rockets, the Lakers hit 11 threes compared to their 6 and also went to the free throw line 33 times compared to 25 for the Rockets. So between the turnovers, three point shooting, and foul shots the Rockets losing those three areas made up the difference in this game. The good news is that the Rockets can prevent the turnovers and that the Lakers probably won't hit 11 three pointers again. I also think the Rockets should continue to crash the boards. Game 4 should be interesting and I think will be a lot closer than this one was.

Key Players of The Game

Kobe Bryant: By firing up 28 shots, Kobe looks like he wants to take over this series and the last two games that is exactly what he has done. He finished with 33 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks.

Lamar Odom: Odom was excellent in Game 3 scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 boards, while shooting 7 of 11 from the field.

Jordan Farmar: Farmar actually played better in Game 3 than Derek Fisher had played in the first two games of this series. He finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and a block. He might have earned himself some more minutes in this series.

Ron Artest: Again it was Artest who led the way offensively for the Rockets. He finished with a team high 25 points on 10 of 23 shooting. He also had 6 boards and a block.

Yao Ming: Yao had a decent game shooting 6 of 14 from the field for 19 points, while grabbing 14 rebounds. However, for the Rockets to win this series, Yao needs to be great and not just decent.
