2009 NBA Playoffs: Game 4 - Houston Rockets 99 Los Angeles Lakers 87 (Highlights)

Game 4: Houston Rockets 99 Los Angeles Lakers 87

Analysis: It's games like this that start to make you question if this Lakers team is championship caliber. With no Yao Ming and a chance for the Lakers to rip all of the life out of the Rockets by going up 3-1, the Lakers came into this game with ZERO intensity. They should flat out be ashamed the way they played in this game and to let Aaron Brooks go off for 34 points without Yao Ming on the floor is just inexcusable. Not only was Yao not on the floor, but Ron Artest shot 4 of 19 from the field and the Lakers still couldn't beat the Rockets. The Lakers better get their stuff together soon or the Nuggets are going to bumrush then harder than Public Enemy bumrushed the show back in 1987. The Lake Show hasn't showed much so far. They'll most likely win this series, but can we be sure they will be able to match the intensity of Denver in the next round? Right now I say NO. Plus, they may not even get past the Rockets now that Lamar Odom hurt his back and could miss a game or two.

Key Players of The Game

Aaron Brooks: Okay, so I'm not going to doubt this guy anymore, but I still feel like the Lakers defense had more to do with Brooks scoring 34 points then the fact that he was just unstoppable.

Shane Battier: Battier hit 5 threes and finished with 23 points. He pretty much carried the Rockets offense along with Brooks as the two combined for 57 points.

Kobe Bryant: With the Lakers having a chance to go up 3-1 on the Yao-less Rockets, I thought Kobe would smell blood and lead his team to victory, but no dice. He finished with just 15 points on 7 of 17 shooting. I expect Black Mamba to be in full effect in Game 5.

Pau Gasol: Gasol had a great game but it was pretty much wasted by the Lakers poor effort. He finished with 30 points and 9 rebounds, while shooting 11 of 17 from the floor.
