2009 NBA Playoffs: Game 1 Cavs vs Pistons (Highlights)

Game 1: Cleveland Cavaliers 102 Detroit Pistons 84

Analysis: No surprises here and you can expect three more games like this in the series. Detroit doesn't have a chance of hanging with the Cavs. One thing to keep an eye on for the Cavs is that they did only hit 5 shots from three, which won't hurt them much against Detroit, but they might need to hit a few more threes once they get deeper in the playoffs. Of course, it's likely that they shot less threes in this game because they were winning so easily and didn't need to take threes. Mo Williams didn't have a great game and that might be another thing to keep an eye on once the Cavs get deeper in the playoffs. One thing I was definitely impressed with was that the Cavs only had 4 turnovers in this game. The Pistons might want to try and create some pressure so that it won't be as easy for the Cavs to protect the ball. They don't really stand a chance in this series anyway, so they might as well get creative, try something different, and take some more chances. The Pistons were also done in by the fact they shot 15 less free throws than the Cavs.

Key Players of The Game

Lebron James: Truth be told, he really is the only key player in this whole series. Lebron dominated with 38 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists; while shooting 13 of 20 from the floor and 11 of 14 from the line. Detroit can't stop him, so you can expect to see more of this from Lebron.

Delonte West: You might not think that 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block is that big of a deal, but this is exactly the type of game the Cavs need from a role player like Delonte West. When the Cavs role players play as efficiently as Delonte did in this game, they are extremely tough to beat. For teams to beat the Cavs, they are not only going to have to slow down Lebron, but also limit the effectiveness of West and Mo Williams.

Rodney Stuckey: He finished with 20 points, 4 assists, and 0 turnovers, but he shot only 7 of 21 from the floor and he needs to be more efficient than that for the Pistons to keep themselves close to the Cavs.
