2009 NBA Playoffs: Game 4 - Dallas Mavericks 99 San Antonio Spurs 90 (Highlights)

Game 4: Dallas Mavericks 99 San Antonio Spurs 90

Analysis: The Spurs are on life support right now being down 3-1 to the Mavs. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker have no help on the offensive end and it looks like the Spurs are really missing Manu Ginobili right now. Before this season began, I said that the Spurs needed to add a scoring wing player off the bench to help them out with their scoring. However, they failed to do that and now that Ginobili is out for the playoffs it's really coming back to bite them in the ass. Their failure to address such a major need is why they are down in this series right now. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker can't do it alone. Meanwhile, the Mavs have looked great and their role player have really played well and given the Mavs a boost.

Key Players of The Game

Josh Howard: Howard has actually played better in this series than Dirk has, which is surprising. He finished this game with 28 points and 4 rebounds, while shooting 7 of 14 from the field and 11 of 13 from the line.

Tony Parker: Parker tried his best to will the Spurs to a victory by dropping 43 points on 18 of 29 shooting, but in the end it wasn't enough.

Dirk Nowitzki: The Mavs won this game despite Dirk having a pretty quiet game. He scored just 12 points on 4 of 9 shooting. Dirk hasn't had a bust out game in this series yet and if he continues to be passive and Josh Howard goes cold, then I could see a scenario where the Spurs could come back to win this series. It may sound crazy right now, but I think for the Mavs to put away the Spurs, Dirk needs to have a monster game to finish them off.
