2009 NBA Playoffs: Game 1 Celtics vs Bulls (Highlights)

Analysis: Are the Chicago Bulls this year's Atlanta Hawks? I say yes and no at the same time. Yes, because they are a young team that should be even better next year. No, because they play a different style than the Hawks mostly because the Bulls have the super quick Derrick Rose at PG and the Hawks don't. I also think the Hawks are a better defensive team than the Bulls are. Plus, I still don't think this series goes 7 games because I don't think the Bulls can play as good as they did in Game 1 on a consistent basis. However, they do have the same type of quick and athletic players that gave the Celtics problems last year when they faced the Hawks in the 1st Round.

One thing to keep an eye on in this series is the rebounding. Chicago outrebounded the Celtics 53-45 and that's definitely an area where the Celtics missed KG. The other one is obviously on defense, where the Celtics had major problems once the Bulls got into the lane.

Key Players of The Game

Derrick Rose: Rose is well on his way to superstardom after dropping 36 points in his playoff debut, which tied him with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most points in a playoff debut by a rookie. He also added 11 assists and was a perfect 12 for 12 from the free throw line. Pretty damn impressive.

Tyrus Thomas: Thomas stepped up big time in OT for the Bulls, scoring 6 of their 8 points, including the game winning shot. He was even knocking down jumpers from the outside. He finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks; while hitting 8 of 12 from the field.

Rajon Rondo: Rondo was just as good as Rose was in this game and he is going to be a handful for the Bulls all series long. He finished with 29 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and a block and I still think he can average 30 a game in this series easily.

Ray Allen: Allen was a key player in this game but for all the wrong reasons. Reverting back to the way he played in last year's playoffs; Allen shot a pathetic 1 of 12 from the field, including 0 for 6 for three. If he continues to play that poorly, then the Bulls will have an excellent shot at upsetting the Celtics. I noticed that Allen seemed to rush himself on offense in this game a little more than he did during the regular season. He may want to slow things down and let the game come to him a little more. Seems like he was forcing up some bad and awkward looking shots for most of the game.
