2009 NBA Playoffs: Game 5 - Los Angeles Lakers 107 Utah Jazz 96 (Highlights)

Game 5: Los Angeles Lakers 107 Utah Jazz 96

Analysis: The Lakers outrebounded the Jazz again in this game, 50-43. Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams also did not play well. The combination of those two things means the Jazz are now Gone Fishin'. The Lakers would have swept this series if not for Kobe's poor 5 of 24 performance in Game 3. I don't see the Rockets or Trailblazers putting up much of a fight in the second round for the Lakers. The Rockets don't have enough offense to keep up with the Lakers and Portland is too inexperienced. I would love to see a Lakers-Nuggets finals in the West and I think the Nuggets would actually give them a decent series.

Key Players of The Game

Kobe Bryant: Kobe dropped 31 points and had 4 assists and 4 steals. Just another typical night for Kobe and the Lakers.

Lamar Odom: Odom was huge in the last two games of this series as he pulled down another 15 boards in this game. He also scored 26 points, dished out 4 assists, and blocked 3 shots, while shooting 10 of 15 from the field. Looks like Phil Jackson made the right move by replacing Andrew Bynum in the starting lineup with Odom. If Odom continues to play this way for the Lakers, they should win it all.

Pau Gasol: Pau was consistent throughout the series and finished this game with a solid 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Deron Williams: Not a good enough game from Williams for the Jazz to win. He shot just 4 of 12 from the field and finished with only 14 points.

Carlos Boozer: After a couple of monster games, Boozer was nearly invisible in Game 5: 10 points and 9 boards on 3 of 8 shooting.
