New York Giants Release Plaxico Burress

The New York Giants released Plaxico Burress today, ending his drama filled tenure with the team. Honestly, I'm surprised it took the Giants this long to actually cut Burress. I would have thought he would have been released a long time ago. Now the focus turns to who will replace Burress? Could Braylon Edwards or Anquan Boldin be headed to New York soon? The Giants definitely need a big time receiver, because I don't think Eli Manning is good enough to win with an average receiving core. In fact, without Burress the Giants are not even close to the same team. Most of their passing offense was based around deep passes to Burress, which most of the time Eli just chucked up there and probably was praying Plaxico would come down with. It will definitely be interesting to see what the Giants do to replace him. Luckily for the Giants, you could make the case that every other team in the NFC East has gotten worse this offseason, except for possibly the Redskins. It's possible that the balance of power in the NFC is shifting away from the NFC East, which was seen as the best NFC division for the last couple years now.
